Fostering/Rehabilitation Contract

This contract between ____________ (glider owner) and _____________ (foster parent) is for the fostering of sugar gliders for the purpose of rehabilitation. This contract is intended to serve as a legally binding contract.

I, (foster parent) have agreed to foster ___ number of gliders.

I (the foster parent) will provide as needed, the items such as cage, toys, pouches, treats, etc… the glider/s need to maintain a healthy life while in my care.

I (the foster parent) will take the glider/s to the vet when/if needed with the understanding that I will be reimbursed by the glider owner for the cost of the vet care. The owner agrees to a maximum vet expenses of $________ without consultation prior to vet service.

The glider owner agrees to share the veterinary financial obligations with the foster parent in the ratio of ______% (to the owner) and _____% (to the foster parent).

The glider owner agrees to provide a vet health certificate or diagnosis report (including any previous test results, medical history, etc.) to the foster parent for each glider if requested.

The glider/s will remain in the care of the Foster Parent until such time as the glider/s is/are healthy and has been deemed so by the vet. Injuries must be 100% healed before the glider/s is/are returned to the owner.

The owner agrees to humane euthanasia if it is deemed by the vet that there is no hope for recovery and continuing life would only cause the glider/s to live in pain and/or severe discomfort.

I (the foster parent) will maintain their current diet of _____________ unless I first consult with the glider owner before I make any changes.

The glider owner agrees to help in the financial care of the gliders at the rate of $______per month per glider. This is to help provide the food the gliders will need.

All incurred costs must be paid to the foster parent prior to the return of the glider/s into the owner’s care.

If _________days/months time goes by without contact from the owner without other arrangements being agreed upon, the glider/s will be considered abandoned and will be placed up for adoption.

This contract also serves as a release of liability in the event of the death of any of the owner’s gliders. It also serves as a release of liability in the event of any bites or other injuries to humans or other gliders caused by the owner’s gliders while in the foster parent’s care. In the event that any criminal or civil suit is initiated over conflict with these gliders between the owner and the foster parent, all court costs and legal fees must be paid by the loosing party.
